We decided on our logo today: Earwig Factory it is! (Sorry, Matt.) We also decided our first color scheme will be black, red, and white. Bold, eye catching, and contemporary. After vacation we will begin the "Bulletin Board Takeover!" and harass students for their writing and visual art submissions.

Meeting #1 November 25
Here is a rundown of what was discussed at the meeting today.
Meeting #1 11/25/13
In attendance: Matt Nastasia, Taylor Johnson, Alanna Holleran, me, you
Next meeting: Monday, 12/2/13
We will look at www.ISSUU.com together and learn how to find inspiration. We will share with each other looks and layout ideas we like and would like to incorporate into the magazine. (Sidebar, maybe we could use the black bulletin board at the back of the room for our "design inspiration" center where we can create a mishmash of ideas with post-it notes of why we like each thing.) We will talk about a logo and present a Logo Competition school-wide.
Logo and Look can be decided on at the 12/9, 12/16 meetings.
January Meetings:
1/6: Plan "The Bulletin Board Takeover." We will try and take over the bulletin board/display cases across the school for a giant push for submissions. Submission deadline will be January 31, 2014. Logo and color scheme should be consistent in all cases. Target areas are art display case, gym display, Dr. Gonsalves display, Library display, and something on the third floor.
1/13 (maybe additional meeting on 1/14): assemble display cases/bulletin boards
Future Meetings:
February: (just ideas) split into two teams: graphic designers to begin laying out sections of the magazine and editors who will be reviewing submissions and organizing groupings.
March/April: adding content to magazine, editing, tweaking.
May: Portfolio Show at the public library, present finished edition of the 2014 SAM Magazine. (will need digital capabilities, I will discuss with Mike DiRado.)
